Behind the tower

Behind the tower

In this post I'm going to talk about what happend behind the scenes of this photo ↓

A new story from Eindhoven Air base/Airport. So as you can see from the photo above, I finally saw the KDC-10 at its home base but this story is not about the KDC-10. It is, as you might have guessed, about the IL-76 behind the tower and how my friend and I kind of missed it.

It all start at the end of our day. We saw the KDC-10 and the C-130H-30 arrive. The A330 MRTT was busy with doing touch and go's. In our opinion, it looked like it was the end of the day. Everyone was home, we did not expect other planes to arrive and we were hungry. With al that in mind we were setting course to the nearest McDonald's. So we walked out of the parking garage where we were on top and after walking 120 meters (393,7 feet) we heard a loud noise. We both looked at each other as we realized the A330's thrust reversers aren't that loud. I looked behind me and there it was. I saw a huge white T-tail traveling down the runway. As we had both done our research, we knew there had been an IL-76 in Eindhoven recently, but we didn't know it would arrive again today. We quickly turned around and went as fast as possible back to the spot where we stood that day. When we arrived we saw the plane traveling down the taxi way on the opposite side of the airport. Desperately hoping it would park at the platform closest to us we were watching the plane. We couldn't take photos while it was taxiing because the sun was in such a place it would ruin any photo we would try. Unfortunately the plane parked at the furthest parking spot possible. I decided to take the photo you can see above so that I have at least a photo of it. For the people who have a hard time seening it, I hope the photo below will help you see it.

I hope you liked this little story from behind the photo and that you will return for the next story. Goodbye and have a nice day.
